She’s known for her vocal acrobatics and booty-shaking dance moves.
But Beyonce gets the chance to show off her gymnastics skills as she cartwheels and flips over laser beams in a new advertising campaign.
The 28-year-old plays a sexy jewel thief in the new Brazilian TV ad for her Dereon by Beyonce fashion line, which sells exclusively in C&A department stores.
Beyonce shows just how form-fitting and flexible the clothes are as her little black dress clings perfectly to her curves during her daring stunts.
As you would expect, the soundtrack to the ad is Beyonce’s 2009 hit Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).
The ad appears to be inspired by a scene from 1999 film Entrapment, which stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as an insurance investigator posing as a thief in a bid to catch Sean Connery’s professional criminal.
House of Dereon was launched by the Knowles family in 2006 as a pret-a-porter fashion line, and followed soon after by the Dereon line, for younger women.
The gowns range in price from $300-$500 and are on sale in U.S. department stores, including Bloomingdale’s, Neuman Marcus and Nordstrom.
Dereon was the maiden name of Beyonce’s grandmother Agnèz Deréon, whose married name Agnèz Beyincé inspired the singer’s first name.
The collection is sold with the tagline ‘Couture. Kick. Soul’ as it represents the spirits of three generations of Knowles women.
Tina is the ‘couture’ thanks to her design talents, Beyonce brings the ‘kick’, while late Agnez had the ’soul’.
Along with House of Dereon and the Dereon fashion line, the Knowles family recently announced plans to expand their business to include home furnishings.
Tina said: ‘Both Beyonce and I are huge fans of home furnishings and try to stay on top of this ever-changing market.
‘As someone who has also realised many interior-design projects, I am so excited to expand our House of Dereon and Dereon brands in this category.
The thought that we would have something to do in brightening up someone’s home, especially bedrooms, is truly wonderful.’
Beyonce is so involved with the marketing of the label she even name-checked their jeans in her 2009 hit Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).
In the single, she sings: ‘Got me tighter than my Dereon jeans.’
Before Dereon, Tina was responsible was dressing Beyonce’s former group Destiny’s Child and custom-made matching outfits for the trio.
These days it seems everyone is covering Beyoncé songs.
Last week’s talker was Liza Minnelli’s version of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)” for “Sex and the City 2″ — already ‘liked” on Facebook pages around the globe. And now comes Reba McEntire, who has given the R&B diva’s hit “If I Were a Boy” a twangy makeover for Country Music Television’s latest “Unplugged” performance.
What other Beyoncé tracks do you think Reba — or others — should take on? My vote goes to “Baby Boy.”
Ever wondered about Beyonce’s success in comparison to Destiny’s Child ? According to Billboard, the “I Am…Sasha Fierce” diva has just about toppled records she set while belting “Independent Women” with Kelly and Michelle.
While Beyonce and Destiny’s Child have only been household names for just over a decade, Beyonce is officially leading the race as a solo artist !
According to Billboard, the “Video Phone” singer has more Billboard Hot 100 no.1 singles than Destiny’s Child (5 to 4) and more Hot 100 top 10s than DC (14-10). She has also sold more digital songs than the group, a whopping total of 23.376 million in comparison to 4.353 million for Destiny’s Child. The latter is likely due to the fact that the digital age kicked into gear after “Writings On The Wall” and “Survivor”.
While Beyonce is raking in digital sales and chart-topping singles, she does come up short in one area (at this point) — album sales.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, Destiny’s Child is still ahead of Beyonce’s three albums (“Dangerously In Love,” “B-Day,” and “I Am… Sasha Fierce”), which total just over 11.2 million copies sold. Destiny’s Child has, as of this week, moved 16, 975,000 copies of albums including “Destiny Fulfilled”.
Beyonce and Tina Knowles’ companies are being sued by a Hong Kong Manufacturer, Vier International, LTD. Vier claims that House of Dereon and other affiliated companies are in breach of contract and also accusing them of RICO. In case you’re not familiar with RICO, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, it is normally affiliated with the mafia and their business tactics.
According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the apparel maker claims it lost more than $500,000 because clothing company Donna Loren LLC and shipping outfit HJM International were “conspirators who induced the shipment of goods to the United States with the intent to convert them or pay less than the agreed upon contract price,” says the source.
The alleged low-balling scheme reaches far and wide. Vier also names Beyond Productions LLC and House of Deréon — both companies owned by Knowles and partners — for taking part through purchase orders and requesting manufacturer specifications.
Along with looking for its $500k back, Vier is not playing around: The company included claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the same law used in most Mafia prosecutions!
This is definitely nothing to take lightly. Bey Bey better find her own modern day Johnny Cochran… Be careful who you have running your businesses because they can get you into some sh*zzz.
Liza Minelli covers Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ for ‘Sex and the City 2,’ in which she makes a cameo.
“It’s a wonderful number,” Liza told Contact Music. “We had a blast. It’s rock and roll. Everything is moving! And I just got a whole new knee, so I can promise you everything is moving.”
You can watch more take-offs on ‘Single Ladies’ here.
Beyonce joined Mexican musical duo Rodrigo y Gabriela in providing entertainment at President Obama’s White House State Dinner on Wednesday night, May 19.
President Obama and his wife Michelle hosted 200 guests at an elaborate four-course dinner party in the White House’s East Room to honor Mexican president Felipe Calderon and his wife Margarita Zavala. Attendees at the invite-only event were treated to fare by renowned Chicago chef Rick Bayless. Following the dinner, 104 additional guests enjoyed dessert and a private performance by Beyonce and Rodrigo y Gabriela inside a giant tent on the South Lawn.
Celebrity guests at the prestigious event included actors Whoopi Goldberg, George Lopez, Eva Longoria and Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z.
Although Beyonce’s performance was revealed only hours before the event, it came as no surprise since the Obamas have long been fans of the Texas-born songstress. Beyonce first performed for Barack and Michelle during the couple’s first dance on inauguration night. And in June 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha attended Beyonce’s concert in Washington D.C, where she dedicated ‘Single Ladies’ to the Obama girls.

Beyonce is expanding her House Of Dereon label – she’s designing a range of home furnishings.
The singer launched her own fashion line through the brand, and now she’s capitalizsing on its success.
Beyonce and her mom Tina, who co-founded the company, are planning to launch a range of homeware – with items for sale set to include sheets and pillowcases.
In a statement, Tina Knowles says, “Both Beyonce and I are huge fans of home furnishings and try to stay on top of this ever-changing market.
“As someone who has also realized many interior-design projects, I am so excited to expand our House of Dereon and Dereon brands in this category. The thought that we would have something to do in brightening up someone’s home, especially bedrooms, is truly wonderful.”
Beyonce and her mother, Tina Knowles, are ready to upgrade your homes with not only clothing but bedding…
Reportedly set to show in retailers this month through a partnership with Arrow Home Fashions, House of Dereon and Dereon are going straight to the master bedroom with European inspired prints and colors, patchwork pieces, and shams.
Both collections will be available in major department and specialty stores, retailing from $49.99 to 199.99.
Speaking of the collections, Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles told Home Textiles Today “I’ve been dreaming about home since we started the line. I love pleating. I love pin-tucking. I love bedding”.
While there is much attention to detail with this collection, Knowles says their hope was to make House of Dereon’ and Dereon’ affordable.
Earlier this year, Beyonce launched a fragrance titled ‘Beyonce Heat’.
